Pathway to Happiness

Are you happy right now?

Well! Just take a small halt and question yourself “Am I happy?”

The true fact is we all are in a relentless exploration for happiness. Most of us crave for it and find it is difficult to discover. We being normal people, look for it everywhere; a nice home and a luxury vehicle, a successful job or a perfect partner.

But even when we conquer all these things, still happiness eludes us.

Yes!!! happiness isn’t found nor a destination; it must be created and practice daily; The happiness is truly innate from inside out; not only from the Wish list planted in your head.

“Focus on what you have—Look at where you want to go—Keep the step forward”

Where to start?

Looking back over, we all have seen some people still being happy after experiencing negative emotions. How is it possible? And what can we all pick up from this?

It is True—We all are not living our best lives. Some conditions are out of our control; they bring us down, hit us in the ground. Fact to understand is the life’s all about our own perspective; it can make either positive or negative changes to your reality.

“Everything you see or hear or experience in any way at all is specific to you. You create a universe by perceiving it, so everything in the universe you perceive is specific to you.”

– Douglas Adams

Here’s the 05 pillars to help you live happy and rewarding.

Let’s take a quick tour.

Fact #01 – Live in the Moment

We all think that happiness is something out there in the unknown or in the future; which is not visible now. We believe that we’ll be happy in our next experience. All of us are in a never-ending race to find happiness by pursuing things we actually don’t have.

Take my word; the happiness can be truly found in the very moment you read this. To explore the real happiness, we have to stop worrying about the past and the future. It’s all about accepting how you are feeling now; Just now.

Simply, pay your attention to the present; know that life is not always perfect. Try to see the beauty in that imperfection & grace it; Connect to what’s happening right now.

That’s the secret recipe to practice mindfulness & live in the moment.

Fact #02 – Pay Gratitude

This is the key to happiness.

You must know that you are amazingly blessed with your life. We all spend loads of time to hunt on negatives & make ourselves victimized by our own.

Just take 3 minutes to look around you:

You have running water & air to breath, a comfortable house & a bed, medical care upon request, enough money to survive, loving people around. You will get an extended list with facts that you are already blessed with; that you can be really happy with.

A simple tip is to start a “Gratitude Journal”. Just write down on what you are grateful at this very instant; at least one per day; say how much you appreciate it.

Show gratitude every time. Recite the positive mantra; “I am grateful for all I have”.

Fact #03 – Embrace Uncertainty

We all feel comfortable when we know that our lives are under control. But the “Certainty” is an illusion. More you hold on, it’s harder to be happy.

Yes! Any type of a Change is scary. It may look like things are going right way. But the change can take place even in the time between two heart beats. This leads us to a choice; either live with fear or to embrace uncertainty.

Accept; We can only control the things within our boundary. Realize; We can’t control other people, their choices, their behavior.

“It’s not what happens to you in life, But how you react to it that matters

Viktor Frankl

Do the best you can do; Let it go with the flow. Believe that “Everything works itself gradually”.

Fact #04 – Love Yourself

Just accept your self-worth.

Your inner happiness is highly dependent on the way you think about yourself; not only on the circumstances that come across.

Have a deep breath, relax and focus; You have been through tough and come through tough; you became stronger and solider day by day from the birth. Just stop judging & blaming yourself; avoid self-criticism; stop comparing yourself with others. Accept yourself as you are.

It’s the high time to discover your unique strengths. Simply you can take the “VIA Character Strengths Survey” or try out “Gallup’s Clifton Strengths Assessment” to figure out your innate positive characteristic that you still didn’t comprehend.

Do what you love and passionate about; focus on strengths, not weaknesses; celebrate little victories; give some permission to love yourself.

Fact #05 – Tighten your circle

Have you ever known that your social circle affects your inner happiness and your self-projection? You are the accumulated version of the people you are hang out with.

To make yourself happy, just peep into your immediate social circle. Who are they? Are they positive? Supportive? Loving? Well, Yes. Then you are in the right track.

Or are they negative, discourteous and rude? Then they don’t owe your time.

Studies have shown that Happiness is contagious; you are affected by the happiness of others with whom you are connected and vice versa. So one last secret to inner happiness is neighboring yourself with happy people with positive vibes.

Final Thought

Happiness; see the positive in the negative is beneath your control. The best thing I’ve learnt in my life is, when I feel suffered; I was redirected to a happy phase where I am meant to be. This helps to make a better version of myself.

True! the circumstances are difficult, painful & tough. But there is always a #SilverLining in every dark cloud to you to be cheerful.

  2. A wonderful collection of advice. There’s a dead stump outside my window, and I can’t be completely sad if I look out and see a squirrel or a bird hopping around on it! It’s totally dead, but it still supports life.

It took me a long time to learn what you already know at your young age. You are wiser than I was at your age. 🙏 🙂
